About
San Miguel Castle is set on a small hill making access more difficult. Here you can see the remains of its Moorish defensive wall. It has a large trench and drawbridge. There are towers of different shapes throughout the construction. Some parts of the building are topped with pyramidal battlements. The keep is no longer standing.
Along with the trench, the towers are its most characteristic defensive element. They are set at different points around the construction, with varying shapes. In the northeastern part there is a Moorish "albarrana" tower (separated from the main structure). The Polvorín and Alcaide towers are two excellent examples. The keep was located within the castle but is now in ruins.
The access is worthy of special mention - it is flanked by two cuboid defensive structures. Also outstanding is the fact that some of the defensive structures were built on a promontory into the sea, containing items of artillery. The building dates from the modern period.
