About
The Living Nativity Scene of Beas is one of the oldest live nativity scenes in Andalusia, born at Christmas 1970. It has been organized for almost half a century by the Brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de los Clarines. It represents traditional biblical scenes, with children and animals as protagonists.
Many trades and ways of life of yesteryear can be seen, making use of utensils and other ancient elements in the representation. Each of the scenes shows something typical of the people's way of life throughout its history, and all of them make use of antique objects: household items, furniture and household utensils, agricultural tools, weighing and measuring instruments, and machines and gadgets from factories and artisanal production, among other things.
The Living Nativity Scene of Beas represents the main tourist attraction of the town, so the Beas City Council organizes a program of complementary activities to the development of the Nativity Scene under the heading of "Beas lives Christmas", which includes guided tours, hiking trails, musical performances, flamenco festivals, markets, candle lighting, etc., which make Beas the Christmas village in the province of Huelva.
