About
The Competa Wine Night is one of the most emblematic festivals in the Axarquía region of Malaga and is held every year on the night of 15 August, in honour of the Virgin of the Assumption.
During this evening, the town of Cómpeta is filled with a festive atmosphere to pay tribute to its winemaking tradition, especially the famous Muscat wine of the area. The streets are decorated and become a large stage where residents and visitors enjoy an authentic Andalusian experience.
The festival begins with the traditional grape treading, a representation of the artisanal winemaking process. Then, free wine and crumbs are offered to all attendees, while groups of verdiales and folk music liven up the atmosphere. There are also flamenco performances and other cultural expressions that reflect the local identity.
Declared a Festival of Provincial Tourist Singularity, the Wine Night is a celebration that combines history, culture, gastronomy and music, becoming an essential summer attraction in the province of Malaga.
