The International Jazz Festival in Granada is one of the oldest and most important in Europe and the only Spanish member of the jazz festivals european network called "Europe Jazz Network".
Since the first Festival in 1980, its history has run parallel to the modern jazz and its leading figures, national and international, as Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Haden, Art Blakey, Tete Montoliu, Dizzy Gillespie, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Chano Domínguez and more...
The presence of such names in Granada has created an authentic jazz movement that led to the creation of a stable big band, as well as off sessions and seminars in various premises in the metropolitan area, the appearance of publications... that promote contact and exchange of experiences between local and foreign musicians.
