About

Easter Week in Jerez is the city's most important religious event (and one of its great festivals alongside the Feria del Caballo Horse Fair). It was declared of national tourist interest in 1993.
During the celebration, the brotherhoods march through the old town of Jerez de la Frontera in an amazing display of art and feeling,
In totoal there are 44 cofradias that take part in Jerez Easter Week. The oldest brotherhoods date back to the 15th century, whilst the "youngest" appeared in 1973. They all stop at the Cathedral during their journey, known as the station of penance. Some of the most popular cofradias are the Borriquita, the Transporte, the Coronacion and the Angustias. Some of the most popular processions are the Good Friday procession, the Holy Exaltation of Christ, the Virgin of Solitude and the Holy Burial processions.
