The Mijas Pueblo Fair is held in the first fortnight of September in honour of the Virgen de la Peña, the patron saint of Mijas, with an extensive programme of cultural, sports, musical and festive activities.

The festivities start with a Great Parade of Giants and Big Heads through the main streets of Mijas.

On the day of the patron saint of Mijas (8 September), and after a traditional floral offering to the Virgin, there is a Solemn Procession of the Image of the Virgen de la Peña, from the parish church to the sanctuary, accompanied by the authorities, brotherhoods, religious associations and a lot of people.

Throughout the fair there are numerous events: performances by musicians and comedians, a children's party, a dinner in honour of the pensioners, parades, contests, traditional popular games, etc.
