The Flamenco Christmas carol group Toma Castaña will perform live in concert on 2 and 3 December at 8pm in the Gran Teatro Falla, to present their acclaimed show "Nochebuena en Cai" (Christmas Eve in Cai), that causes such excitement year after year.
With Toma Castaña a truly Flamenco Christmas returns to Cádiz. Each year this Flamenco group brings together a team of over 20 artists to perform a brand new repertoire that includes both traditional songs from the Serranía and the Andalusian coast as well as others from their own production.
Once again you are invited to celebrate the traditional arrival of Christmas, to laugh and dance to a fusion of the very best Cádiz Flamenco with jazz, classical music, popular beats and other musical styles. Having been together for over 20 years, Toma Castaña has produced artistic creation of a very high level with lyrics that are full of Christmas spirit but still retain Flamenco purity whilst the accompanying music is highly sophisticated. You can be sure of an innovative and avant-garde outlook in this Flamenco Christmas show.

In previous editions, the "Nochebuena en Cai" show has entertained people all over Spain and always been hugely successful both with audiences and with the critics. The show premiers each year at the Gran Teatro Falla and is always sold out. Some of the other great venues include: Teatro Calderón in Madrid, Teatro Lara in Madrid, the Conference and Exhibition Centre in Marbella, the Real Teatro de Las Cortes in San Fernando and the Palau de la Música de Valencia.

The incredible success enjoyed by the show has led to the publication of a number of CDs with the new numbers in several shows, as well as "Greatest Hits" and even DVDs.

The Toma Castaña Flamenco group was formed in 1999 from an original idea by Joaquín Linera, "Niño de La Leo", a popular Flamenco guitarist from Cádiz who has been the artistic and musical director ever since. It is a collective of several generations of artists from Cádiz and includes Flamenco singers, musicians and dancers from the two most iconic Flamenco neighbourhoods: Santa María and El Pópulo. The group is made up of both young talents and renowned, famous artists.
